The 32nd International Plant Fair has opened. With the speech of the new Agriculture Minister Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich, the world's leading trade fair in the green sector could officially start. A moderately positive mood among officials and exhibitors outweighed a rather weak year 2013 for the horticulture industry.

This year, Turkey is the partner country of the International Horticultural Forum, which Ulmer Verlag is organising together with Messe Essen and INDEGA at the IPM ESSEN.

It took the Messen Essen almost 100 years to become one of Germany's top trade venues. The international plant fair IPM significantly contributed to this recognition. Politicians voted unanimously to invest 123 million Euros into the fair's infrastructure - but on Sunday, a local referendum revoked this commitment.
